Biography

Coach Fentress comes to One on One Kicking after coaching specialists at the collegiate level at Montana State University and the University of Wyoming respectively. Ben Fentress. During the 2018 season he coached Wyoming place-kicker Cooper Rothe, who earned First Team All-Mountain West honors, was named the 2018 MW Special Teams Player of the Year and was one of three finalists for the prestigious Lou Groza Award, which honors the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker each year. During the 2018 season, Rothe made 16 for 17 field goals and finished first in the nation in field goal percentage at 94.1%. Fentress was involved in creating special teams scouting reports, practice plans, recruiting and specialist film review.

While at Montana State, he coached punter Jered Padmos, who was named Second Team All-Big Sky Conference. Padmos averaged 42.5 yards per punt and ranked 15th in the FCS in punting in 2016 as a freshman. In his two years at MSU, the Bobcats ranked 18th nationally in net punting in 2016 and seventh in 2017.

Coach Fentress first began working with kickers and punters at Aspen High School in Aspen,CO and later Basalt High in Basalt. During his time at Basalt he coached Kicker Bertilio Garcia to All League honors four times and All State three times.
Coach Fentress has also coached NFL and CFL free Agents with long time NFL kicking coach Gary Zauner at Coach Zauner’s Pro Development Camps. He has also worked camps and lessons with Mike King of Shoals Kicking Development in Florence,AL.

A native of Decatur, AL Fentress played for Don Woods at Hartselle High School where he was Decatur Daily All Area team, and MVP Special Teams at Hartselle. He continued his career at Austin Peay State University, later Arkansas State University and Maryville College in TN.

A long time resident of the Western US, Coach Fentress enjoys Backpacking, River Surfing, and Snowboarding. He enjoys long walks with his 160 lb Newfoundland dog Charlie and chasing snow storms in his teardrop camper in Ski Country. Fentress is also an accomplished Snowboarding Coach and has taught for Mammoth Mountain, Big Sky Resort, The Aspen Skiing Company and a Private Ski Club. He holds a BA in Outdoor Recreation and Minors in German and Physical Education.

Coach Fentress oversees the daily operations of One on One Kicking. He’s also in charge of exposure and works tirelessly find scholarship offers and PWO’s for the Specialists at One on One.
