Training Philosophy

At One On One Kicking, we believe that teaching our trainees correct fundamentals and technique is only part of the equation towards becoming an elite specialist prospect in high school, college, or the NFL. Punters, kickers, and snappers are athletes. They should train like athletes.
Simply, this means an uncommon dedication to a craft. Whether that means training in a weight room, building muscle and flexibility, learning about proper nutrition, or understanding how to break down and analyze film, we teach that consistent dedication yields consistent results.

Our programs stress the importance of several components of Strength and Conditioning: muscle building (mass), speed training (fast-twitch), and flexibility work (dynamic movement). Each of our training sessions intentionally teaches about each of these components, and we give our trainees guidance about how to work out in a way that’s most beneficial to specialists. Our specialists benefit from the ability to follow a specific plan that creates stronger athletes while also stressing bio-mechanic stability, leading to less “tweaks” and injuries.

Because our players are athletes, it’s important for them to take initiative about how they fuel their bodies. We resource players with nutrition plans and supplement guides, making sure that while training, they’re maximizing their body’s potential. It’s important for kickers, punters, and snappers to build muscle in the safest, most efficient manner, and specialists in our program gain knowledge about how to safely train and properly put on muscle.

As technology has improved in the last ten years, it’s become easier and easier for athletes to utilize film analysis in their training. All of our instructors are trained in video breakdown and analysis, and an important part of our year-round training is reviewing our players’ practice film or game and going over that film with the player.
But more importantly than waiting on a coach to review film, we teach our players exactly what to look for in their own mechanics so they can also coach themselves. The ability to make adjustments to technique after watching film is vital for continued success in kicking, punting, or snapping. And we take pride in helping our specialists get to this point in their own knowledge of technique.

Players that come through our training programs, year-round training, college training, or NFL training, leave with a completely different level of understanding of how to take care of their bodies and how to truly understand their technique. This emphasis to detail is one reason why Scout.com calls us, “The best training facility for kickers and punters in America.”
